XSCAPE

Xscape is an American girl group from Atlanta, Georgia, formed in 1991 by Kandi Burruss, Tameka “Tiny” Cottle, LaTocha Scott, Tamera Coggins-Wynn, and Tamika Scott. The following year Coggins-Wynn left the group and Xscape became a quartet. They were discovered by Jermaine Dupri who signed the group to his So So Def label. The group released their debut album Hummin’ Comin’ at ‘Cha in 1993, which spawned two of their biggest hits “Just Kickin’ It” and “Understanding”. The album was certified Platinum on February 1, 1994. Xscape has sold more than 9 million records worldwide.

Leela James

James made her debut on the soundtrack to the 2000 Jamie Foxx film Bait on the Roots song “Work”, credited as Alechia James.

In 2004, James toured as an opening act for the Black Eyed Peas and Macy Gray. That same year, she was featured on hip hop producer, DJ, and emcee Pete Rock’s album Soul Survivor II, providing vocals to the track “No Tears”. In 2005, she lent her voice to the posthumously released Ray Charles album Genius & Friends, duetting with the singer on the song “Compared to What”.

In February 2021, James debuted the song “Complicated”, the first single off her seventh studio album See Me. It peaked at No. 3 on Billboard’ Adult R&B Songs chart on August 21, 2021.

Bobby V.

Bobby V. (also known as Bobby Valentino), is an American R&B singer. He was first a member of the R&B group Mista in 1994, before signing to rapper Ludacris through his label imprint, Disturbing tha Peace under Def Jam Recordings in 2005. Bobby V’s first single as a solo artist, “Slow Down”, released in February 2005, peaked at number 8 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. The single was certified gold by the RIAA and became the lead single for his eponymous debut album (2005)—which peaked at number 3 on the Billboard 200 and had a follow up single, “Tell Me” (featuring Lil Wayne).

His next album, Special Occasion was released in May 2007, and warranted success from its second single, “Anonymous” (featuring Timbaland). He has charted three No. 1 albums on Billboard’s U.S. Top R&B Chart since 2006.
